This is the toughest-built leather punch tool we've ever used, but durability means nothing if the tool doesn't do it's job well. We tested it on thick belting leather and were thoroughly impressed with the minimal effort required to get a nice clean cut with the telltale 'snap' as the head strikes the anvil. It did equally well with an 1/8" stack of thick card stock. (Like all rotating-head tools of this type, it's important the head is aligned to strike the anvil flat; plus, rotating or twisting the material when the anvil is down helps sever any stray fibers.)
